This BSUPA Level 1 Ready to Ride learn to Stand-Up-Paddleboard course is our most popular lesson and is a complete introduction to the rapidly growing sport of Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Priced £50 for a 2 hour Lesson, including high-end Paddleboard equipment from WetnDry Boardsports. Your fully qualified coach (BSUPA qualified) will be on hand to teach you everything you need to know to safely and competently paddle on your own.
On this course you will learn how to carry the equipment, How to hold the Paddle, Stance on the Board, How to fall, Flat Water Paddling, Basic Watercraft (including understanding tides and weather conditions), Different Types of Turn (basic, reverse sweep, and step-back), Planning a Distance Route, Changing Stance to Catch a Wave, and basic water safety.
The BSUPA Ready to Ride course is aimed at people who have never stand-up paddled before, or people who have had a go but want to learn the basics properly. We use land-based simulation, on-the-water demos and group coaching to help beginner Paddlers learn and understand the essentials of Stand-Up-Paddleboarding. The course is designed to give you the information you need to get on the water safely, have fun and learn all the essential stand-up Paddleboarding techniques.
For our BSUPA courses we usually teach on the flat, sheltered waters of the River Chelmer in Essex, which provide the perfect spot to learn SUP. With no tides and tucked out of all but the strongest wind, the river offers super-flat water that makes your first time on a SUP board much more productive. We also have our own private lake, which is perfect for teaching families and bespoke group sessions. Once you’ve grasped the basics, we can quickly progress to more advanced techniques and by the end of the course you will be paddling competently and ready for more open water.
1 Hour taster SUP session. £30 with all the kit included.
If you have never tried Paddle Boarding before and are worried that it might not be for you, then our 1 hour taster session is the ideal way to give it a go. Held on our secluded private lake, you will learn basic paddle techniques from how to hold a paddle to turning and standing up. After you have completed one of our taster sessions, its always a good idea to book yourself on a BSUPA ready to ride course with us.
